Connecting to Holden
I can connect to Holden in a similar way as Mr. Toland did. It was last year on November 7th my grandpa past away. He was in the hospital for about a week and it was actually really quite devasting to me to loose my first grandfather. I was in the same boat as Mr. Toland I am the oldest child in my family and I had to stay strong for my family. I felt like all I wanted to do was cry but I didnt atleast not for awhile. I really didnt know how to deal with his death it was all a shock to us. My grandma said a week before my grandpa was admitted to the icu that he was fine and everything was going to be okay. The next week my dad came by and told me and my sister that he was in the hospital. We really didnt know what to do. So school was still going on and we went and we tried to get up there as much as we could then no November 7th my grandpa passed on and it was something I just had to deal with. I think that kinda what Holdens going through. He doesnt really know how to handle his brother Allies death. I think that he still misses him a lot. I understand how hard it is to loose someone but to loose your own brother and to be a teen is even harder then loosing your grandpa. I think the way Holden tries to handle the death of his brother is through frustration. I think that there are only a few people that he actually really loved and cared about and that would be Allie. Hopefully Holden begins to learn that his brother is in a better place and that his life is not so bad and he begins to have a better social life later on in the book, also I hope that he becomes a little more nicer to others and try a little bit harder.
